Welcome to Music at Sacred Heart
At Sacred Heart, we aim to develop a lifelong love of music by giving children opportunities to sing, play, listen, compose and perform. Our progressive Music curriculum builds children’s musical knowledge, vocabulary and practical skills through a range of genres, songs and instruments. Children regularly revisit previous learning and build their confidence as musicians as they progress through school. Year 6 also receive specialist Gospel singing tuition with Mel.

Why is Music such an important curriculum subject?
Music is important to me because I want every child to experience the enjoyment and confidence that comes from making music. At Sacred Heart, I want children to be active musicians who have opportunities to sing, play instruments, compose, listen and perform together. Through our Music curriculum, children build their skills and musical vocabulary year on year, while experiencing a wide range of genres and developing the confidence to express themselves creatively.
What do you love about leading Music at Sacred Heart?
I love Music at Sacred Heart because of the enjoyment it brings to our children and the way it brings everyone together. I love seeing children get excited about a song, discover a new genre or grow in confidence when singing, playing an instrument or performing. For me, Music is about creating positive experiences and giving every child the opportunity to enjoy making and listening to music, regardless of their previous experience or ability.
