Why is geography such an important curriculum subject?
Geography is an essential subject which broadens the horizons of all children. It increases their awareness of the joy and wonder of planet Earth, whilst enabling them to consider what part they can, and will, play as a good global citizen. Our school community is extremely diverse and geography is one of the ways in which we can celebrate and explore that diversity. Outstanding geography should incorporate a wide range of curriculum skills and be delivered in creative and exciting ways.
What do you love about leading Geography at Sacred Heart?
Geography is a real joy to lead at Sacred Heart and, in particular, we have worked hard to ensure that learning is meaningful and relevant for our pupils. Every year group takes part in geographical fieldwork and we ensure that our learning is active, creative and engaging. I will continue to promote an interest in the world around us and look forward to inspiring a love of geography in all our students.
Our Geography Ambassadors
Our Geography Ambassadors are pupil representatives who help promote a love of geography across our school. They support the Geography Lead, share pupil voice and help celebrate the exciting geography learning taking place in every year group.
